Description
The linen skirt is inspired by the quiet grace of the late Victorian and early Edwardian years – somewhere around the turn of the century, when clothing carried both structure and softness, usefulness and beauty.
Its long, easy silhouette falls in a calm line from the waist, with gentle fullness that moves softly as you walk. Side seam pockets are hidden within the shape, practical and discreet, while the back button closure adds a small historical note. Made without lining, the skirt keeps the honesty of natural linen: light, breathable, and softly draped.
It feels like something that could have belonged in a quiet countryside home or a small workshop filled with paper, thread, flowers, and glass bottles.
Not grand, not theatrical – only quietly distinctive.
The skirt is named by Gertrude Jekyll, she was a pioneering garden designer, writer, painter, embroiderer and interior designer.
The skirt Gertrude can be made in a custom length (standard length is approximately 86cm/34″).
Hand wash or machine wash on a cool cycle. Dry flat. Use a hot steam iron if needed.
